The speed measurement solution incorporates Hikvision cameras, radar sensors, traffic management servers, and control room infrastructure. The technologies used by these products to detect and report on traffic violations include AI-powered deep learning algorithms (including ANPR, vehicle attribute analysis), radar video fusion technology, and advanced imaging technology.

All of the technologies that make up this solution are connected and managed via the Hikvision HikCentral management system. This means traffic authorities can manage their speed violation management activities more effectively. The Solution detects vehicle speed in four ways:

Checkpoint speed measurement

With the Hikvision Speed Measurement Solution, authorities are able to detect speeding vehicles at checkpoints to within 0-4km/h accuracy. Smart AI features also help detect drivers not wearing seatbelts, talking on smartphones, or otherwise violating road safety laws. Based on the ability to detect these infractions, authorities can reduce law-breaking and accident risks.

Segment speed measurement

The Hikvision solution allows authorities to see a driver's average speed for a road segment. This helps avoid drivers deliberately brake when they see fixed speed detection sites. This also ensures that speed limits are respected in certain road segments, so as to improve road safety.

Portable speed measurement

This solution provides all the accuracy and smart violation detection capabilities of 'fixed' solutions in a portable package. In this way, speed measurement can be present where needed to regulate driving behaviours. This helps ensure overall improvements in speed limit compliance, with all the associated safety improvements.

Precautionary speed measurement

The Hikvision solution provides instant reminders to motorists to respect the speed limit on roadways, or in 'closed' environments such as industrial parks or school campuses. Using the Hikvision radar-assisted traffic camera, the solution displays the vehicle speed and license plate information on Hikvision roadside LED screens, reminding motorists to slow down.
